Watts, Volts and Amps

I came across this little pearl of wisdom somewhere on the net and have found it very useful so I'm repeating it here for everyone's benefit since the whole "how many Amps?" question seems to come up rather a lot on game collecting forums.

/ = Divided By

FOR DC

746 Watts = 1 Horsepower. Always. By definition
1 Kilowatt (KW) = 1000 Watts

Watts = Volts x Amps

Amps = Watts / Volts

Volts = Watts / Amps

FOR SINGLE PHASE AC

Power Factor = Input Watts / (Volts x Amps)

Watts = Volts x Amps x Power Factor

Amps = Watts / (Volts x Power Factor)

Volts = Watts / Amps
